About Inner City Youth Foundation
Inner City Youth Foundation (ICYF) was founded by Ed Davis, a North Minneapolis entrepreneur and owner of Faded Barbershop, who knows firsthand the power of sports in shaping lives. Growing up in the heart of Minneapolis, Ed faced significant adversity, and basketball became a transformative outlet for him. His experience as a North High School athlete instilled in him discipline, resilience, and a strong sense of community—values he now brings to ICYF to help empower today’s youth.
To amplify this mission, Ed partnered with Vajiee Whitfield, founder of 94 Feet of the Game, another local non-profit dedicated to youth development through basketball. Together, they combine their resources, networks, and shared passion to make an even greater impact on the lives of young athletes. This powerful partnership exemplifies the idea that by coming together, we can create meaningful change that reaches further than we could alone.
ICYF supports youth basketball teams like the Farview North Cardinals Boys Basketball team, who have achieved City and State Championships. With this partnership, ICYF and 94 Feet of the Game ensure that financial barriers don’t prevent these young athletes from accessing tournament opportunities, quality equipment, coaching, and training resources. Through basketball, the organizations equip young people with crucial life skills like leadership, perseverance, and teamwork, all while fostering a sense of belonging and community.
The collaboration between ICYF and 94 Feet of the Game underscores the power of partnership in creating brighter futures for Minneapolis youth. Ed Davis, Vajiee Whitfield, and their teams welcome the community’s support in this journey to uplift and inspire, demonstrating how unity and shared vision can lead to life-changing outcomes for young athletes both on and off the court.
